Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (also known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) comes from the undisputed champion of the Gracie family, Rickson Gracie. We are part of the LCCT family (Luiz Claudio Combat Team) headed by Luiz Claudio and his brother Thiago Veiga. Our black belts visit Rickson in Brazil several times per year to bring the latest and best techniques back directly to our school.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
(Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) class is recommended for everyone who is first starting at Team FVGC. These classes focus on the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as advanced techniques for those who have experience training. The fundamentals are a necessity for anyone looking to seriously train in jiu-jitsu or fight in mixed martial arts.

On Saturday mornings, FVGC hosts “Live Rolling”. The live rolling class is to help simulate the length and intensity of a competition. No techniques are shown. Practices consist of 5-minute timed matches held back-to-back for an entire hour.

Although we have members who compete, it is not a must. Some of our members choose to take BJJ to get into better shape, make friends or simply because they are interested in the art itself. With 30 DAYS FREE, you can easily stop in and see if you like it.

Required gear for members includes a gi (uniform) and athletic supporter. Optional gear includes a mouthguard and wrestling shoes.

Definition: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting, with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint locks and choke holds to force an opponent to submit. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be trained for self-defense, sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts competition.
